About Villa Sembunyi

Tucked away in a quiet part of the small Balinese village of Umalas is Villa Sembunyi (sembunyi means ‘hidden’ in the Indonesian language). Umalas, a paradise of tranquility close to the bustling tourist villages of South Bali (Kuta, Legian and Seminyak) is only 25 minutes by car from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Arriving at the airport, you will find a member of our staff waiting to pick you up and take you to your holiday home. Our friendly staff will give you a warm welcome, ensuring that straight away, you will feel right at home.

Villa Sembunyi actually consists of two separate private houses: Villa Sembunyi and Pondok Sembunyi. Villa Sembunyi, the largest of the two, has four bedrooms. The smaller villa, Pondok Sembunyi (pondok means ‘cottage’ in Indonesian), has one bedroom. Both houses have fully equipped kitchens. The two villas and the staff house are set in a well-maintained, luxuriant tropical garden of no less than 1,500 square meters. Both villas offer complete privacy. In the centre of the garden one finds a beautiful natural pond with water lilies and fish. The complex, which is completely walled, is surrounded by a wide variety of mature tropical trees. There are two swimming pools in the garden: a 14-meter pool located close to the main villa and a 6-meter plunge pool that lies in front of the ‘pondok’ house.

Villa Sembunyi is located on a dead end private lane, with no direct neighbors, providing a strong sense of seclusion from the outside world and ensuring maximum privacy. Listen to the lively bubbling of the river at the back of the garden and allow your stress to melt away. Enjoy a cocktail in the afternoon sun, or dine outside in the inner courtyard. Retreat to the comfortable colonial couches above the Dutch master bedroom – the perfect place for a quick afternoon nap or for a leisurely evening of reading or watching a movie. Or take a refreshing dip and relax by the poolside afterwards. And last but not least, take in a breathtaking sunset or allow yourself to be overwhelmed by the splendor of a starlit tropical night on the big roof terrace, where you can always enjoy a refreshing breeze. This project has been co-realised with help of F. Feriyanto (The Netherlands) and A. Hoek (Bali)
